Infrastructure Architect (VMware Specialist)

Location: Fully on site, Basingstoke

Your role

As a VMware Specialist, you will play a crucial role in creating an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform using VMware technologies including vRealize Orchestrator (VRO), VMware Cloud Director (VCD), and NSX-T. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect, deploy, and optimize virtualized environments tailored to meet client needs.

Your transferable skills and experience:

  • Design and implement VMware-based IaaS solutions according to client requirements and industry best practices.
  • Configure and optimize VMware vRealize Orchestrator (VRO) workflows for automating provisioning, deployment, and management tasks.
  • Deploy and manage VMware Cloud Director (VCD) instances, including resource pools, organizations, virtual data centers, and networking.
  • Implement and configure NSX-T for software-defined networking and security within the virtualized environment.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and operations teams to integrate VMware solutions with existing systems and technologies.
  • Provide technical expertise and support during testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of VMware infrastructure issues.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including architectural diagrams, SOPs, and technical guides.
  • Stay updated on emerging VMware technologies, trends, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and managing VMware virtualization solutions, focusing on VRO, VCD, and NSX-T.
  • Deep knowledge of virtualization concepts, VMware vSphere architecture, and related technologies.
  • Hands-on scripting experience (PowerShell, Python) for automation and customization.
  • Strong understanding of SDN principles and NSX-T configuration and management.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in an Agile team and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • VMware certifications such as VCP or VCAP are highly desirable.
