Technology Assurance Analyst

Hybrid / London office based

Astrum Search is delighted to be supporting a forward-thinking research and technology (FinTech) company that specialises in financial research, IT infrastructure, and machine learning.

As part of the commercially focused Controls Assurance team, you will be a problem solver, conducting reviews of critical business processes and key technology projects. You will assess key business risk areas, particularly across the change portfolio, providing the Board and Senior Leadership team with observations that will improve the business.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead deep-dive assessments of sophisticated tech platforms, applications, and core infrastructure within a trading environment.
2. Collaborate with developers and engineers to understand the technical landscape, applying a business-first risk mindset.
3. Conduct risk evaluations and assurance work across critical engineering functions.
4. Use creative testing strategies to generate insight-rich, data-led findings.
5. Integrate data into all stages of the review process – from planning and fieldwork to reporting and follow-up.
6. Present concise and impactful summaries of risk areas and recommendations for senior stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

1. Strong academic background, ideally a 2:1 or above in Computer Science or a similar discipline.
2. Solid understanding of modern software development methods, including Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD.
3. Prior experience in a second or third line risk, audit, or assurance function, with a financial services background.
4. Ability to operate confidently in fast-paced environments where system reliability and adaptability are critical.
5. Skilled in working with datasets and solving problems with a structured approach.
6. Familiarity with analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, or coding in Python is a plus.
