The council’s Information Governance (IG) Team is a service dedicated to ensuring the council remains compliant with legislation such as GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FoI). The team manages external requests for information and provides help and advice on data protection, information security and records management to teams within the council.
The Information Governance Team is part of the Legal & Governance division of the Corporate Services directorate based at the Civic Centre in Swinton. However, the council has adopted a hybrid working pattern with a mixture of office and home working.
As a member of the IG team, you will help to deliver a professional compliance programme for the council, taking on your own caseload of requests from individuals exercising their rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR). This involves sourcing records, preparing and disclosing those records as appropriate in accordance with the law.
You will also assist in logging, allocating and coordinating all requests for information.
Please note that Salford City Council is currently unable to provide visa sponsorship for any role, as no Certificates of Sponsorship are available. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
