Job description
The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a customer-focused Information Governance Manager to develop a culture of high-quality information management at one of the world's leading creative universities.
As Information Governance Manager, you will join our dedicated Regulatory Policy and Compliance team. This small team oversees the University's compliance with UK information legislation and other regulated areas such as Freedom of Speech and the Prevent duty. You will play a central role in the delivery of expert advice, guidance and training to ensure that the University continues to promote best practice in regulatory compliance and record-keeping.
In this role, you will assist with the ongoing development and implementation of information and records management policies and processes to ensure legislative compliance with the Freedom of Information Act, Environmental Information Regulations and the Data Protection Act.
Working across UAL's colleges and central services teams, you will lead a programme of work to enhance the University's understanding and delivery of information management best practice. To achieve this, you will support collaborative working and deliver effective training and development to ensure that staff and students are equipped with the knowledge and expertise they need to remain compliant.
You will also support projects on wider regulatory compliance and policy matters, and work closely with colleagues in information security and corporate governance ensuring the University's approaches and practices remain up to date with sector and industry best practice.
About you
Educated to degree level (or equivalent), you will demonstrate in-depth knowledge of UK information legislation (including the Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information Act 2000) as it applies to Higher or Further Education settings.
You will be confident using a wide range of digital tools, including Microsoft Office applications, IT programmes and social media platforms.
Along with a customer-focused approach to your work, strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills will enable you to build effective networks and relationships, support successful stakeholder outcomes, and ensure that principles of equality, diversity and inclusion are upheld.
Previous experience of engaging with or managing policy development is desirable, but not essential.
Application process
We operate a fair and open anonymous selection process. Thus, you will need to create an account and submit an application through our job board. As part of this, you will need to provide a supporting statement to demonstrate your suitability. Our recruitment process involves: application, shortlisting, assessment/interview, offer, onboarding.
We understand the benefits of using AI in work. But, if you are thinking of using it to submit an application, we ask you to think about what value it adds. AI tools tend to lack the personal touch and authenticity we value in candidates. We encourage you to showcase your unique knowledge and skills using your own voice.
If we receive a high volume of applications, the closing day date might close early. We aim to communicate any changes to the closing date with at least 24 hours' notice.
