Job summary

The Government Recruitment Service seeks an Information and Privacy Adviser in Lerwick to support compliance with information access and data protection laws. You will advise on FOIA, EIR and GDPR/DPA, coordinate responses to information requests, and assist with statutory tasks of the Data Protection Officer.

This role sits within the Maritime and Coastguard Agency's Data Protection and Information Access team, offering flexible working and a strong public service ethos; pension contributions

Qualifications

• Knowledge of FOIA, EIR and GDPR/DPA requirements.
• Ability to coordinate information requests and responses.
• Experience in data protection/compliance guidance.

Responsibilities

• Log and respond to information requests under FOIA/EIR/GDPR/DPA.
• Support Individual Rights requests (erasure, restriction).
• Assist with data breach monitoring and mitigation actions.
• Support Data Protection risk management and related audits.
