Job summary

The Information and Privacy Adviser role sits within the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and supports compliance with information access and data protection legislation. It provides expert advice to MCA staff, volunteers and third parties and acts as a point of contact for requests under FOIA, EIR and GDPR/DPA.

The post is based in Stornoway, with full‑time hours and a salary of £37,019 per year. It offers Civil Service pension contributions and generous annual leave, plus flexible working

Qualifications

• Knowledge of FOIA, EIR and GDPR/DPA requirements.
• Ability to interpret data protection and information access legislation.
• Experience providing advisory support on information requests.

Responsibilities

• Log and respond to information requests under FOIA and EIR and GDPR/DPA.
• Support the data protection team with risk and incident tracking.
• Advise MCA staff on data protection and information access obligations.
• Assist with data protection reporting and assurance activities.
