Job summary

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 senior staff nurse for Ward 117, the Infectious Diseases unit. The post-holder will act as nurse in charge, participate in audits and training, and contribute to ward financial management, sickness absence handling and staff appraisals.

The role involves DATIX reporting, risk assessments, quality monitoring and leading ward meetings, with opportunities for leadership development and complex case management.

Qualifications

• NMC registration is required.
• Two years at band 5 RN level on the Infectious Diseases Unit.

Responsibilities

• Acting as nurse in charge on a daily basis.
• In-reaching duties.
• Taking part in audits.
• Taking part in training.
• Financial management of the ward.
• Managing sickness and absence.
• Carrying out staff appraisals.
• Managing DATIX incident reporting and risk assessments.
• Quality monitoring and improvement.
• Managing the duty roster.
• Managing complaints.
• Leading ward meetings and managing complex situations.
