Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Neurology Ward (Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse) at Leeds General Infirmary. You will provide clinical leadership, coordinate daily ward operations and support the Ward Leader to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

The role focuses on supervision, service improvement and effective teamwork within the multidisciplinary group, aligning with NHS standards and patient-centred values.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Experience in neurology or inpatient ward leadership is desirable.
• Strong leadership and clinical skills with a patient-centred focus.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible clinical leadership and co-ordinate day-to-day management of the Neurology Ward.
• Lead by example to deliver high-quality, safe, patient-centred care.
• Support Ward Leader in monitoring quality and safety indicators and promoting improvements.
• Promote a culture of continual improvement and learning within the team.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team.
• Supervise and develop ward staff, including nurses and healthcare assistants.
• Escalate clinical, operational and staffing concerns promptly and appropriately.
• Contribute to handling complaints and feedback to enhance patient experience.
• Assist in line management and workforce planning; deputise for the Ward Leader when needed.
