Job summary

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a 10-PA substantive consultant in the expanding infection service at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. The post covers infection advice, inpatient consults, bacteraemia rounds, laboratory support, IPAC and antimicrobial stewardship, with out-of-hours cover on a 1-in-4 rota and teaching for Peninsula Medical School.

Qualifications

• Specialist register for infectious diseases or medical microbiology.
• Within 6 months of CCT or equivalent at time of interview.
• GMC registration with licence to practise.

Responsibilities

• Advise on investigation and management of infections.
• Inpatient infectious diseases consults and bacteraemia rounds.
• IPAC and antimicrobial stewardship support.
• Liaison with health protection teams.
• Out-of-hours cover on a 1-in-4 rota.
• Teaching for Peninsula Medical School and supervision of junior staff.
• Support for specialist MDTs.
