Job summary

NHS Scotland invites GMC-registered medical practitioners to apply for a full-time Consultant post in Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases based at the North Laboratory, Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, Fife.

The role includes leading complex infection care, expanding OPAT, and overseeing high-consequence infectious disease cases, with opportunities for joint clinical/academic work with the University of St Andrews.

Qualifications

• Full GMC Registration and license to practise.
• Eligibility for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register or Portfolio Pathway (CESR) is acceptable for entry to the consultant grade.

Responsibilities

• Manage patients with complex infections in the acute hospital setting.
• Expand the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) service.
• Oversee care for patients admitted with suspected high-consequence infectious diseases.
