Job summary

Dorset HealthCare's infection prevention and control team invites applications for a Band 5 developmental post designed as a route into a Band 6 IPC practitioner role. It provides a structured development programme alongside senior IPC practitioners, with progression depending on meeting a competency framework and qualifications.

A registered healthcare professional is required, and visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Registered healthcare professional or on a recognised programme leading to registration.
• Willingness to develop IPC knowledge and lead with senior IPC practitioners.
• Commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide IPC advice, education and guidance to staff, patients and service users
• Support clinical teams to assess and manage infection risks and promote IPC compliance
• Assist with IPC incidents and outbreaks, investigations and record keeping
• Contribute to IPC surveillance, audits and policy review
• Support development of IPC policies and education
• Analyze IPC information to identify risks and improvements
• Keep up to date with national IPC guidance and apply it in practice
• Complete the Band 5 to Band 6 development programme
