A fantastic opportunity to work in the Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics (‘MTL’) industry team within the Large Corporate segment of UK Corporate Banking.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of senior bankers focused on the MTL sector based in Birmingham, Bristol, and Manchester, reporting to the Head of MTL. The role requires regular travel across the region.
The MTL sector is diverse, including national and international transport and logistics firms, as well as manufacturers from aerospace & defence to electronics, food and drink, pharmaceuticals, automotive, engineering, metals, paper & packaging, and chemicals.
As a senior member of the MTL leadership team, the candidate will aim to meet strategic goals such as exceeding P&L targets, growing the balance sheet, increasing market share, enhancing client satisfaction, maintaining strong controls, and developing their team.
The role involves delivering comprehensive banking services—debt, cash management, transactional banking—across the Barclays franchise. Proven experience in managing high-value client relationships and coordinating multi-stakeholder funding, treasury, and risk management is essential.
The candidate should have or develop a strong regional network with clients, advisors, and industry bodies. Business development skills are crucial. They will also oversee external engagement within the Midlands Corporate Finance community.
