A fantastic opportunity to work in the Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics (‘MTL’), industry team within the Large Corporate segment of UK Corporate Banking.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of senior bankers focused on the MTL sector based in Birmingham, Bristol, and Manchester, reporting to the Head of MTL. The role requires regular travel across the region.

The MTL sector is diverse, including national and international transport and logistics firms, as well as manufacturers from aerospace & defence, electronics, food and drink, pharmaceuticals, automotive, engineering, metals, paper & packaging, and chemicals.

As a senior member of the MTL leadership team, the candidate will aim to meet strategic goals such as exceeding P&L targets, growing the balance sheet, increasing market share, improving client satisfaction, maintaining strong controls, and developing their team.

The role involves delivering comprehensive banking services—debt, cash management, transactional banking—across the Barclays franchise. Proven experience in managing high-value client relationships, especially in funding, treasury, and risk management, is essential.

The candidate should have or develop a strong regional network with clients, advisors, and industry bodies. A business development mindset is crucial. The role also includes responsibility for external engagement within the Midlands Corporate Finance community.

Purpose of the role

Accountabilities

1. Manage relationship teams, oversee performance, goals, efficiency, and effectiveness.
2. Build and maintain strong relationships within Barclays to promote seamless cross-channel collaboration and support integrated business planning.
3. Manage risk aspects including conduct and credit risk, ensuring compliance and excellent customer outcomes.
4. Monitor financial performance of teams, including revenue, profitability, and costs.
5. Conduct market research to understand client needs, trends, and opportunities.
6. Deliver excellent customer service, meeting client needs efficiently.
7. Promote diversity and inclusion, developing talent and succession plans.
8. Set strategic direction and implement modern methodologies and processes.
