Johnson Controls Industrial Refrigeration (IREF) division offers project solutions, maintenance, and service solutions supporting manufacturing, cold storage, and R&D testing requirements. We are OEM for SABROE, Frick Compressors, and York products, with trained engineers nationwide providing project solutions, planned, preventative, and reactive works for markets including meat, poultry, food manufacturing, beverage, cold storage, general manufacturing, leisure, pharmaceutical, and automotive.

Role: Commissioning Engineer

Responsibilities include start-up and commissioning of Industrial Refrigeration systems, ensuring system parameters meet regulations, standards, and procedures. Collaborate closely with the project manager to ensure commissioning aligns with plans and budgets, covering plant & equipment, pipework, refrigeration charges, and controls.

How You Will Do It:

Serve as the primary contact for site technical service and commissioning, supporting the design team with final design, scope, and specifications. Understand design, scope of works, and installation requirements for Industrial Refrigeration. Communicate with clients, attend onsite reviews, and guide suppliers & contractors. Support project managers based on design and installation needs. Projects are UK-based, with travel required.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience in maintenance and commissioning of industrial refrigeration and process cooling systems using HFC, CO2, and Ammonia
• Understanding of system types like pumped overfed, two-stage, and cascade
• Ability to interpret electrical controls and drawings
• Knowledge of CDM regulations
• Effective team collaboration skills
• Strong analytical and requirements definition skills
• Travel flexibility for national opportunities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining technical info to non-technical audiences
• Ability to work independently without documented procedures
• Positive, proactive attitude and team player mindset
