Job summary

Evolito is offering a 12-month Software Engineering Industrial Placement in Oxfordshire for students in software, electrical, or computer science programmes with embedded software content. You will work on live customer projects from day one, contribute to embedded software, and gain exposure to safety-critical development processes.

You will write requirements, design documentation, and code for embedded systems, perform HWIL testing, and participate in peer reviews while receiving mentoring

Qualifications

• Pursuing Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Computer Science with embedded software content.
• Must complete an industrial placement year as part of the course.
• Good knowledge of C and/or Python.
• Strong problem-solving and logical thinking; self-motivated and collaborative.

Responsibilities

• Develop and verify embedded software for Evolito motor controllers.
• Write software requirements and design documents for safety-critical software.
• Create and run test cases using hardware-in-the-loop test platforms.
• Peer-review software artefacts and support the project team.
• Gain experience of aviation software processes aligned with DO-178C DO-178C Level A.
• Receive mentoring and support throughout the programme.

What you'll do

As a member of our 12‑month Software Engineering Industrial Placement Programme, you'll work alongside experienced engineers on live customer projects from day one.

You'll have the opportunity to:

• Contribute to the development and verification of embedded software for Evolito motor controller products
• Write software requirements and produce design documentation and code for safety‑critical software
• Write and execute test cases using hardware‑in‑the‑loop test platforms
• Peer review software development artefacts and support the wider project team
• Gain experience of aerospace software processes aligned with RTCA DO-178C Design Assurance LevelA
• Receive mentoring and support throughout the programme

What we're looking for

• Are studying Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline with embedded software content
• Need to complete an industrial placement year as part of their course
• Have good knowledge of C and/or Python
• Enjoy solving problems using a logical and structured approach
• Are self‑motivated, collaborative and eager to learn
