Leonardo’s Industrial Placement programme offers a paid placement (£25,000) to develop your knowledge and skills required to become an engineering or business professional of the future.

You will support the design and development of our electro-optical, communications, and information system products under the guidance of experienced Electronics Engineering Leads. You will be introduced to utilizing state-of-the-art methods, technology, and tools throughout the development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, acceptance, and product support.
You will interface with internal and external customers and liaise closely with Engineers from disciplines such as Mechanical, Software, Systems, Supportability, and Design Integrity. Electronics Engineers design, document, build, and test electronics circuits and firmware for various systems. In Electronics Engineering, you might be involved in designing for mixed signal, power supply, DAC/ADC, FPGA, high-speed serial interfaces, and video/communication processing algorithms. You will have opportunities to work on products like Thermal Imaging Cameras, Vehicle Camera systems, Counter UAV systems, Electronic Warfare products, and Communication Systems.
There will be opportunities to develop expertise in circuit, FPGA, and subsystem design at various stages of the product lifecycle, including requirements capture, performance analysis, design, coding, verification, validation, and support for integration and qualification. You will gain exposure to other engineering disciplines and business areas.
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required
Applicants must be currently studying a relevant degree such as Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or other STEM subjects. Experience in electronics-biased modules like digital design, analogue design, signal processing, PCB design, and simulation tools is highly desirable. Applicants must be eligible for UK Security Clearance, typically requiring a minimum of five years of UK residency.
