Job summary

Westray Recruitment Consultants Ltd. has an immediate opening for an Industrial Paint Prepper / Sprayer within its production team in the UK. You will prep surfaces, apply coatings, read specs and drawings, mix paints and operate spray equipment to achieve high-quality finishes.

Working with experienced professionals, you will follow safety rules, maintain equipment, and document coatings and inspections. This temp-to-perm role offers a Monday–Friday schedule at £14.50 per hour, with growth

Qualifications

• Experience applying protective coatings to steel fabrications or tanks.
• Competence with air-assisted airless spray equipment.
• Knowledge of surface preparation techniques and coating processes.
• Ability to read paint specifications and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail for high-quality finishes.
• Understanding health and safety for industrial painting and hazardous substances.
• Reliable, works well in a team and meets deadlines.
• Proactive approach to meeting production targets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare goods for painting via grinding, sanding, cleaning.
• Apply primers, epoxies, intumescent coatings and top coats.
• Read and interpret paint specs, coating systems, and drawings.
• Mix paints per manufacturer specs.
• Operate and maintain spray equipment.
• Monitor coating thickness and finish quality.
• Rectify coating defects such as runs or poor adhesion.
• Follow health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Keep work area clean and organized including paint booths.
• Collaborate with managers, welders, fabricators and fitters to meet targets.
• Complete paint records and quality control forms.
