Crown Packaging Manufacturing UK Limited in Carlisle seeks a highly motivated Skilled Mechanic to maintain, repair and overhaul a wide range of industrial machinery within our 24/7 production facility in Botcherby. You will help ensure maximum uptime and quality in a high-volume can manufacturing plant.

The role requires experience in mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, reading drawings, and working to health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Skilled Mechanic in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Qualification in mechanical discipline (NVQ 3, HNC/HND, City & Guilds).
• Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read schematics and maintenance manuals.
• Commitment to health and safety practices.

Responsabilités

• Perform planned, preventative and corrective maintenance on a variety of production machinery, including but not limited to presses, conveyors, forming equipment, coating equipment and associated auxiliary systems.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and failures accurately and efficiently using a range of diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Execute repairs, replacements, and adjustments of mechanical components such as gears, bearings, motors, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals to aid in troubleshooting and repair activities.
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying potential areas for machine optimization and reliability enhancements.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment performance.
• Collaborate effectively with production teams, engineers, and other maintenance personnel to ensure seamless operations.
• Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge of new technologies and equipment.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new machinery as required.
