Job summary

Manpower Group (UK) in Gateshead is seeking a Project Design Engineer to support industrial hydraulic projects from customer requirements through to design, manufacture, testing and commissioning.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, CAD experience (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and a strong grasp of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical/control systems. Travel to customer sites may be required. Salary £40,000 (DOE).

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience.
• Relevant engineering design experience.
• Good understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical/control systems.
• Ability to carry out engineering calculations.
• Experience using CAD; Autodesk Inventor is advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements and develop suitable engineering solutions.
• Produce engineering drawings, hydraulic schematics, and technical documentation.
• Carry out engineering calculations and select/size components.
• Prepare technical specifications and quotations.
• Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors for project delivery.
• Identify and resolve technical problems through design and manufacturing.
• Support technicians during assembly, testing and commissioning.
• Improve reliability and serviceability of engineering solutions.
• Ensure projects meet customer requirements, timescales and budgets.
• Produce final as-built drawings and project documentation.
• Attend workshop and customer sites when required.
• Identify risks early to maintain project deadlines.
