Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Team Leader for industrial cleaning services. You will lead and develop cleaning teams, ensure contract standards are met, and maintain health and safety records across site operations.

Responsibilities include resource allocation, staff training, 121s, and HR processes, while promoting a collaborative, productive work environment and ensuring compliance with EHS procedures.

Qualifications

  • Leadership role experience in facilities or cleaning is required.
  • Knowledge of cleaning practices and standards.
  • Strong health and safety awareness including COSHH.
  • Ability to manage teams and communicate effectively.
  • Experience with HR processes and appraisals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain procedures for industrial cleaning and resources.
  • Lead teams to meet contract specifications and standards.
  • Respond promptly to service shortfalls via the helpdesk process.
  • Coordinate reactive or special cleans with customer requirements and costs.
  • Maintain health and safety certificates and documentation in site records.
  • Ensure PPE provision and adherence to EHS processes and risk assessments.
  • Support the cleaning supervisor with monthly audits and corrective actions.
  • Allocate resources and report concerns or variations.
  • Provide online training and monitor TBT deliveries.
  • Manage HR policies: recruitment, performance, training and appraisals.
  • Ensure site equipment is PAT tested and checked regularly.
  • Guide team toward company goals and foster a positive culture.
  • Set team tone, define roles, and align with vision.
  • Recognise performance and provide feedback for development.
  • Support training and growth opportunities for staff.

Job description

  • Take responsibility for developing and maintaining the procedures, systems and resources necessary for delivering Industrial cleaning.
  • Manage the teams to ensure the contracted services are delivered to the agreed contract specification and standards.
  • Ensure a timely response to any service shortfalls identified, making sure the helpdesk process is followed for all reactive works requests.
  • Ensure a timely response to requests for reactive or special cleans, agreeing customer requirements and costs if appropriate.
  • Ensure all statutory, health and safety, certificates, and documentation relevant to areas of responsibility are maintained in the site cleaning logbook and records regularly checked.
  • Full adherence to all aspects of OCS and Client EHS processes and procedures, ensuring all tasks are carried out to the relevant Risk Assessment and Method statement, provision of the necessary PPE is measured at all times.
  • Support the cleaning supervisor in completing monthly audits addressing any corrective actions where applicable.
  • Take responsibility for managing allocation of resource for nominated areas of responsibilities, reporting any concerns or variations.
  • Support cleaning staff with online training
  • Ensuring TBT are delivered and signed off monthly
  • Manage resources to ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures including but not limited to recruitment, staff performance, training, development, and appraisals.
  • Carry out regular 121 and wellbeing chats with cleaning team and assist the cleaning supervisor in setting annual objectives
  • Ensuring site equipment and machinery is maintained & pat tested and regular checks are carried out.
  • As a team leader, you will guide individuals towards achieving company goals and promoting a positive team culture. You will cultivate an atmosphere of collaboration and communication, while equipping team members with the necessary tools for success. You’ll also strategize and implement initiatives to enhance team performance, productivity and quality of work delivered.

Who you'll be
  • Previous experience of leadership essential. Excellent team management focusing on developing good customer focused and H & S behaviours.
  • Knowledge and experience of cleaning practices - holding a BICSc or NVQ level 3 qualification.
  • Competent in all aspects of Health & Safety and COSHH
  • Methodical and meticulous approach to work.
  • Good IT skills
  • Able to understand and interpret both written and verbal instructions and training materials.
  • Conduct regular team briefings to enhance collaboration and teamwork.
  • Authorising and processing timesheets.
  • Managing HR issues with assistance from the Cleaning Supervisor/Manager and HR Officer.
  • Smart and presentable.
  • Good communication skills and effective customer service approach.
  • Good written and oral command of the English language.
