At The Grammar School at Leeds, we are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Individual Needs Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic team.
As an Individual Needs Teaching Assistant, you’ll work directly with students who have individual needs and disabilities, both in and out of the classroom. You’ll provide one-to-one and small group support, deliver bespoke interventions, and help pupils access learning through assistive technology and inclusive strategies
This is a hands-on role involving collaborative planning, data analysis, pastoral support, and liaising with colleagues, families, and external professionals. You’ll play a vital part in helping pupils thrive academically, socially and emotionally, while promoting independence, resilience, and high expectations.
You'll also participate in departmental administration, professional development, and school activities, contributing to the overall success of the school.
The Individual Needs team is a really supportive and friendly group made up of 7 Teaching Assistants, 5 Individual Needs teachers and an IN Administrator. We work closely together every day, sharing ideas, checking in with each other, and making sure everyone feels supported. We all care about what we do and about each other, which makes a big difference in our day-to-day work with students.
You will have English and Maths to GCSE level or equivalent grade C or above, and at least NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent or a willingness to work towards. Experience of working with children is essential, along with knowledge of the needs of students with IN and disabilities and the challenges they face. We are looking for someone to work either with our primary school children or senior school.
