Job description

Blackpool | Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities Teaching Personnel

Teaching Personnel is recruiting Individual Needs Assistants (INAs) to support pupils on a 1:1 basis within primary schools across Blackpool, Wyre and the Fylde Coast.

As an INA, you'll work closely with one child, providing tailored support that helps them access learning, build confidence, develop social skills and thrive throughout their school day. This is a highly rewarding role where consistency, patience and understanding can have a life-changing impact on a child's educational journey.

Whether supporting a pupil with Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, SEMH needs or other additional learning requirements, you'll play a vital role in helping them achieve their full potential.

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a named pupil within a primary school setting.
  • Supporting learning in line with the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) where applicable.
  • Adapting activities and communication styles to meet the individual needs of the child.
  • Encouraging engagement, independence and participation in classroom activities.
  • Supporting the pupil's social, emotional and behavioural development.
  • Assisting with personal care where required.
  • Building a positive, trusting relationship that enables the pupil to feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and parents to support pupil progress.

We are keen to hear from individuals who have:

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or additional needs.
  • Previous experience in education, childcare, youth work, care or support work.
  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to adapt support strategies to meet individual needs.
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from experienced Teaching Assistants, Support Workers, Care Assistants, Nursery Practitioners and those with transferable child-based experience.

  • Competitive weekly pay through PAYE.
  • Access to free CPD and specialist SEN training.
  • Opportunities within supportive primary schools across Blackpool and the surrounding areas.
  • Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement.
  • Flexible working opportunities available.
  • Potential pathways into long-term and permanent school positions.

As an Individual Needs Assistant, you'll see firsthand the difference your support can make. From celebrating small victories to helping pupils gain confidence and independence, every day brings the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on a child's life.
