Job summary

Refugee Action is seeking a full-time Communications/content role to develop engaging copy and manage campaigns. You will work across teams to deliver timely materials and ensure impact on policy and service delivery for refugees in the UK.

The role requires strong writing, planning, and collaboration skills, plus experience with Excel and CRM platforms. This position is UK-based and UK-work eligibility is essential.

Qualifications

• Understanding needs of refugees and asylum seekers in the UK.
• Commitment to anti-racist practices.
• Understanding of UK refugee protection and asylum system.

Contract: Permanent basis
Hours: Full-Time 35 hours per week (excluding lunch breaks)

Refugee Action exists to work with refugees and people seeking asylum who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes. We are a national charity with more than 40 years’ experience of empowering people who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes to secure the protection and support that they need to live with dignity and respect and build a new life in the UK. We do this by providing expert advice and casework, building the capacity of partner organisations and campaigning on the policies that affect them.

To succeed in the role you will need to demonstrate:

• Passion for and experience in developing engaging and motivating copy writing and content.
• Strong planning, time management and organisational skills with experience to demonstrate ability to successfully work to tight deadlines and prioritise between numerous projects.
• Ability to build and nurture excellent working relationships across teams in the organisation to collaborate and achieve cross cutting objectives.
• Experience of using Excel (including creating charts and tables) and databases (for example, Raisers Edge) to enter data
• Any experience using CRM and online content portals such as WordPress, Engaging Networks, Campaign Monitor or similar
• Any experience in design or illustration (using adobe suite tools such as InDesign, Illustrator or similar like Canva )
• Insight into the needs, experiences and hopes of refugees and asylum seekers, refused asylum seekers and irregular migrants in the UK.
• Commitment to removing barriers to power for people with lived experience, and commitment to anti-racist practices.
• Understanding of how the UK’s hostile refugee protection and asylum system impacts those affected by it.
