The opportunity

As the Indirect Tax Manager at Bristol Myers Squibb, you will manage indirect tax compliance and risk across multiple EMEA jurisdictions. You will combine hands‑on technical delivery with stakeholder management, team leadership, advisory support and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage indirect tax risks by ensuring accurate returns, timely filings, and effective handling of enquiries and audits from local tax authorities.
• Prepare and review indirect tax returns for multiple jurisdictions across the EMEA region.
• Conduct General Ledger account reconciliations to support accurate indirect tax reporting.
• Prepare detailed VAT packs that support tax returns and demonstrate compliance with local regulations.
• Manage the process for raising VAT payments and submitting VAT reclaims.
• Liaise with local markets and finance functions to explain, validate and agree indirect tax returns.
• Lead, coach and develop junior professionals to support the timely and accurate production of tax returns.
• Monitor local regulatory changes and clearly communicate their impact on indirect tax compliance.
• Prepare indirect tax budgets and provide accurate forecasts to support tax planning.
• Provide ad hoc indirect tax advisory support when supply chain changes arise, helping the business maintain compliance and optimise tax efficiency.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including Order to Cash and Accounts Payable, to support efficient end‑to‑end indirect tax processes.
• Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, control and accuracy.

What you will bring

• Demonstrable indirect tax/VAT compliance experience.
• Experience preparing and reviewing returns, reconciliations and supporting VAT packs.
• Can confidently managing tax authority enquiries, audits, payments and reclaims.
• Strong stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to explain technical matters clearly to local markets and finance teams.
• People leadership or coaching experience, with a commitment to developing junior colleagues.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Familiarity with OneSource Indirect Tax software and SAP is preferred (but not required).
