Job summary

Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking an enthusiastic Independent Travel Training Officer to join the Integrated Home to School Transport Team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role focuses on delivering the Independent Travel Training offer and supporting young people with additional needs.

Based on-site at Lowther Street, the role includes mentoring, planning risk assessments for activities and contributing to the service transformation across the authority footprint.

Qualifications

• Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience mentoring young people with additional needs in an education setting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Independent Travel Training offer as part of the Integrated Home to School Transport Team.
• Plan and implement risk assessments for activities.
• Support and mentor young people to gain confidence and essential life skills.
