Job summary

Salford City Council is offering a term-time role to provide SEND students with the skills to travel independently and support their transition to adulthood. You will deliver an independent travel training programme, assess referrals, and work with young people and families to promote independence.

DBS check applies, with the cost (£49.50) deducted from the first four months’ salary at £12.38 per month; invoices may be issued if you do not commence employment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people, preferably in education or training settings.
• Ability to assess, plan, implement and deliver independent travel training.
• Strong communication with young people, families, schools and partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide SEND students with travel independence training.
• Develop and implement an independent travel training programme.
• Assess referrals and engage with schools and families to plan journeys.
• Promote road safety and bus awareness for clients with special needs.
