Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a non-medical Independent Prescriber (Nurse, Allied Health Professional or Pharmacist) to join the Specialist Weight Management Service on a fixed-term basis. The role focuses on prescribing capacity for weight management medications, including GLP-1/GIP receptor agonists, within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Registered professional with Non-Medical Independent Prescribing qualification.
• Current prescribing annotation/registration where applicable.
• Experience with weight management pharmacotherapy is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Undertake independent prescribing and medication review consultations.
• Initiate, prescribe and titrate weight management medication per guidelines.
• Review clinical information and testing to support safe prescribing.
• Document assessments and communicate with the SWMS team and GPs.
• Identify risks and escalate as required to ensure patient safety.
