Job summary

Ceredigion County Council Direct Payment Support Service is seeking a reliable personal support assistant to help a 22-year-old student with a learning disability attend college, build independence, and engage in inclusive community activities.

Core duties include travel training on public buses twice weekly, planning social activities, promoting safety, and encouraging self-advocacy to grow confidence in public spaces.

Responsibilities

• Travel Training & Support: Accompany the young woman on public buses to and from her college two days a week. You will help her learn the route, read timetables, handle bus fares/passes, and develop road safety awareness.
• Activity Planning: Collaborate with her one day a week to research, plan, and enjoy a day trip or social activity (e.g., visiting a café, museum, cinema, arcade, mini golf, shopping centre or local park).
• Safety & Well-being: Provide a reassuring, safe environment, ensuring she is protected from vulnerability while out in public.
• Confidence Building: Encourage her to speak for herself (e.g., ordering her own food or buying her own tickets) to grow her social skills.
