Job summary

Alternative Futures Group is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to assist a female client with Epilepsy and complex learning disabilities. You will provide health-related and social support, manage medications and equipment, and help maintain a safe living environment.

The role requires participation in mandatory training, incident reporting, and contributing to personalised planning while promoting independence and community engagement. Flexibility to cover varied shifts is essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to support people in ways consistent with their rights, choices and responsibilities.
• Positive attitude to people with complex physical, learning disabilities and/or mental health problems
• Ability to provide sympathetic, emotional and practical support
• Ability to support others to make informed choices within daily life
• Good verbal communication skills and ability to listen sensitively to others
• Written English skills with accuracy in record keeping
• Good interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Provide all health-related and social support to people with Learning Disability, Autism and Mental Health.
• Support people who present with behaviours that challenge using appropriate techniques.
• Provide safe medication and pain management per care plan.
• Manage medical equipment and supplies and reorder as needed.
• Attend mandatory and specialist training sessions to remain competent.
• Report and record incidents that could cause harm per policies.
• Support Personalised Planning and People to exercise informed choices.
• Help people exercise cultural beliefs and maintain relationships.
• Support people to maintain home and living environment.
• Promote independence and assist access to the community.
