Job summary

Independent Lives is seeking a flexible Personal Assistant to support a 60-year-old man in maintaining a safe and habitable home. The role focuses on domestic tasks, social coordination, and personal prompting while respecting privacy and confidentiality.

Experience with Acquired Brain Injury and knowledge of long-term hoarding emotional health are preferred. The PA should be diplomatic, trustworthy, and able to build rapport through a person-centred approach.

Qualifications

• Flexible PA with excellent personal skills and preferably experience of supporting people with Acquired Brain Injury
• Knowledge of the complex mental health issues involved in long term hoarding
• Ability to build trust and rapport with a person-centred approach
• Willingness to be diplomatic and respectful of the employer's views

Responsibilities

• Keep the small hallway clear as required by the Local Authority Landlord and remind why it is necessary
• Support with laundry, bathroom and kitchen cleaning, bed changes, food fridge checks and safety tasks
• Over time clear beds, kitchen and bathroom to create usable space
• Promote safety and wellbeing and encourage engagement with support
• Build rapport and discuss interests; assist with phone calls and appointments
• Liaise with admin support to locate and manage paperwork found during cleaning
• Provide prompting for personal care and maintain independence where possible
• Be reliable, discreet, and maintain privacy and confidentiality
• Follow instructions, work with initiative, and maintain high health and safety standards
• Be flexible with support times
