The Brick is a growing charity based in Leigh, offering independent living mentoring to help people secure sustainable housing. You will develop action plans, coordinate with partners, and guide individuals through budgeting, tenancy readiness, and support services to improve quality of life.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication, empathy, and a trauma-informed approach, with experience in housing or social care and a commitment to person-centered delivery.

Qualifications

• Excellent listening skills.
• Understand complex needs and how support can be facilitated to those most vulnerable.
• An ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (English) and to collate and evidence work/outcomes using case management databases.
• A can-do attitude and willingness to undertake a varied workload.
• A resilient nature and the ability to handle challenging behaviour.
• Ability to show empathy with individuals while maintaining professional boundaries.
• An understanding of the needs and challenges of those experiencing homelessness, including those who have support needs including drug, alcohol, and mental health needs.
• An awareness of key public health messages relating to contagious and spreadable disease.

Responsabilités

• Identify future housing options and produce an action plan to achieve this.
• Develop an intensive support package with key partners, highlighting agreed actions for sustainable move on.
• Ensure individuals understand financial management for independent living, including rent and budgeting.
• Manage referrals, complete inductions on shift, and update the work management system.
• Support people in a trauma-informed way to build skills and confidence for tenancy readiness.
• Oversee building operations and ensure policy adherence, issuing warnings as needed.
• Collaborate with multi-agency teams to serve clients in the Wigan Borough area.
• Ensure privacy, dignity, and safety, promoting access to local community resources.
• Develop and maintain relationships with housing agencies, social services, mental health teams, tenancy support, and addiction services.
• Liaise with service providers to access all appropriate services to meet needs.
