Job description

Job Title: Independent Domestic Violence Advocate

Victim Support is recruiting for an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to be co-located within mental health inpatients units covering Bedfordshire. This is a full-time role, but part-time applications will also be considered. The role is on a fixed-term contract until 30th June 2025.

Location:

101 Park Street, Luton, Bedfordshire, LU1 3HG

Working Hours:

Full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Salary:

£28,050 per annum (Qualified), £26,010 per annum (Unqualified)

About the role:

The aim of this role is to support victims of domestic abuse who are inpatients across Bedfordshire. You will work with victims who are predominantly risk assessed as standard/medium. You will collaborate with other specialist services covering Bedfordshire.

Responsibilities include:
  • Providing high-quality support and advocacy to victims of domestic abuse
  • Managing a caseload, assessing risks and needs, providing tailored crisis interventions, safety planning, advocacy, emotional, and practical support
  • Working with other agencies and advocating for service users to access safety services
  • Participating in multi-agency frameworks, MARAC, and local partnerships for coordinated responses
  • Promoting awareness of domestic abuse through training
Requirements:
  • Experience in support and advocacy with victims of domestic abuse is advantageous
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage conflicting demands
  • Ideally, holding a SafeLives IDVA accreditation, relevant degree, vocational qualification, or relevant experience working with domestic abuse victims in statutory, voluntary, or community settings
