Job description

Are you ready to be part of a growing organisation that puts people first? At Hilldale Housing, we’re transforming lives through high-quality, tailored housing solutions for those who need them most.

About Us
Since our founding in 2009, Hilldale Housing has grown from providing specialist accommodation in Wigan to supporting over 1,000 people across 58 local authorities. As a registered provider since 2013, we specialise in bespoke housing solutions for individuals with complex needs, including learning disabilities and mental health challenges.

Our mission is clear: to provide homes for people who need support to live independently, offering stability and dignity in communities across the country.

The Role: Income Officer
As our Income Officer, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring our financial sustainability, helping to maximise rental and income collections while delivering compassionate, customer-centred service.

This is a flexible, agile working role that allows you to work 3 days remotely and 2 days in our Salford office, giving you the perfect balance of autonomy and collaboration.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Proactively managing rent and service charge collections, ensuring we meet ambitious targets.
  • Providing tailored support to tenants and their advocates to ensure access to eligible income, including assisting with Housing Benefit applications and appeals.
  • Preventing arrears by building strong relationships with tenants, fostering trust, and taking timely action where needed.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to streamline processes and improve income recovery services.
  • Upholding regulatory standards and compliance across housing and rent policies.

What Makes This Role Stand Out?
At Hilldale Housing, we don’t just focus on figures – we focus on people. Every action you take will directly contribute to the stability, independence, and well-being of our tenants. This is your chance to use your skills to create meaningful change while developing your career in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.

What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking someone with the passion and expertise to make a difference. Our ideal candidate will bring:

  • Knowledge of income collection policies and processes, with an understanding of rent charges and payment schedules.
  • Insight into the challenges faced by vulnerable people, particularly those with complex needs.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage empathetically and influence outcomes.
  • Proficiency in IT, particularly Microsoft Excel, and solid numerical skills.
  • Experience in social housing income collection and knowledge of housing regulation (desirable but not essential).

Why Choose Hilldale Housing?
We believe in looking after the people who look after others. That’s why we offer an exceptional benefits package:

  • Agile working – balance your work and personal life with 3 days remote working each week.
  • Contributory pension scheme – secure your future while making a difference today.
  • NHS top-up healthcare scheme (WPA) – prioritise your health and well-being.
  • 25 days’ annual leave (increasing to 28 with service).
  • Life assurance, occupational sick pay, and maternity pay schemes.
  • Free on-site gym, parking, and unlimited tea and coffee to fuel your day.

Be Part of a Mission-Driven Team
At Hilldale Housing, we’re proud of the work we do, and we’re looking for someone who shares our passion for making a positive impact. If you’re ready to use your skills to support vulnerable people, improve lives, and drive success, we’d love to hear from you.
