Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking an experienced SEND & Inclusion Lead to take a strategic role in developing and strengthening SEND provision within a welcoming primary school in Southampton.

This role is ideal for an experienced SENCO or aspiring SEND leader who wants to make a meaningful difference for pupils with additional needs, collaborating with senior leaders, families and external professionals to ensure every child receives the support they need.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • NASENCO or SENCO qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, provision and best practice.
  • Experience supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families and external professionals.
  • Passionate, resilient and solution-focused approach.
  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the school.
  • Work alongside senior leaders to develop inclusive teaching and support strategies.
  • Identify barriers to learning and help staff implement effective interventions.
  • Monitor the progress and attainment of pupils with SEND.
  • Manage EHCP processes, annual reviews and relevant documentation.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers and external agencies.
  • Provide guidance, training and support to teaching staff.
  • Champion pupil voice, inclusion and positive outcomes.
  • Contribute to wider school improvement and leadership.

Start Date: September 2026

Contract Type: Permanent | Part-Time – 3 Days Per Week

Pay Rate: MPS–UPS + SEN Allowance (dependent on experience)

About the Role

Supply Desk is seeking an experienced and passionate SEND & Inclusion Lead to take a strategic role in developing and strengthening SEND provision within a welcoming primary school in Southampton.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SENCO or aspiring SEND leader to make a genuine difference to pupils with additional needs, working closely with senior leaders, teachers, families and external professionals to ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the school.

  • National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or appropriate SENCO qualification.

  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families and external professionals.
  • Passionate, resilient and solution-focused approach.
  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
