Job summary

West Hill Primary School is seeking two compassionate Teaching Assistants to support pupils with SEMH and SEND needs within the Inclusion Base. The role focuses on providing safe, structured and nurturing learning, pastoral and regulation support to help children access education and progress.

You will work alongside the Inclusion Base Teacher and wider staff to reinforce consistent, trauma-informed practice, build emotional security and promote positive relationships across the school community.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
  • Genuine commitment to inclusion and enabling every child to succeed.
  • Understand behaviour as communication and respond calmly.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for teamwork.
  • Able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary school team.
  • Maintain high expectations of pupils' learning and development.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Inclusion Base teacher and wider staff in delivering a safe, structured learning environment.
  • Provide learning, pastoral and regulation support to pupils with SEMH and SEND needs.
  • Help pupils access education, develop independence and progress academically, socially and emotionally.
  • Contribute to a whole-school approach to inclusion and collaboration with mainstream staff.
