Job summary

Freshfields is seeking an Associate for the Incentives team in London. You will focus on incentive arrangements including executive compensation, employee share plans and related governance, tax and regulatory issues for clients ranging from listed companies to multinationals.

Your role includes designing plans, advising on tax qualifying schemes, and supporting on M&A and capital markets transactions. A strong in-house or global firm background in incentives is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years’ PQE in incentives, executive compensation or share plans.
• Strong technical grounding in tax, corporate, securities and employment law as it relates to incentive arrangements.
• Experience advising on incentive aspects of M&A, restructurings or capital markets transactions.
• Experience within a top-tier incentives practice at a global firm.

Responsibilities

• Draft clear, succinct incentive plan documentation and employee-friendly communications.
• Negotiate incentive and remuneration issues independently or with partners.
• Mentor junior associates and trainees; manage matter delivery.
• Participate in client training, seminars and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Build strong client relationships and deliver commercially focused advice.
• Maintain robust financial management including WIP, billing and deadlines.
