Job summary

Nicholas Associates Group is seeking a Groundworks Quantity Surveyor to join their in-house team supporting residential developments. You will manage groundworks, infrastructure and external works across multiple sites, reporting to a Director.

The role covers procurement through final accounts, cost planning, valuations and risk management, with strong emphasis on collaboration with Construction, Technical, Development and Procurement teams to drive value.

Qualifications

• Proven experience within residential groundworks/infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage, roads, utilities and associated external works.
• Experience managing subcontract packages from tender through to final account.
• Good commercial and contractual knowledge.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with operational teams.
• Ideally, experience working for a housebuilder or residential developer, although strong groundworks contractor-side experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Managing groundworks and infrastructure packages from procurement through to final account.
• Preparing and reviewing subcontract enquiries and tender returns.
• Negotiating subcontract packages and securing competitive costs.
• Producing cost plans, budgets and forecasts.
• Reviewing valuations, variations and payment applications.
• Managing subcontractor accounts and final accounts.
• Monitoring costs against budget and identifying commercial risks.
• Working closely with Construction, Technical, Development and Procurement teams.
• Supporting the delivery of roads, drainage, utilities, earthworks, foundations and external works.
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting regularly to senior management.
• Assisting with value engineering and identifying opportunities to improve project performance.
