Job summary

Bird & Bird, London-based, seeks an In House Counsel (Mid/Senior) to advise on supplier terms and technology contracts. The role supports AI governance and data protection, reporting to the Head of Group In House Legal.

Experience in in-house settings or a move from private practice is welcomed. The successful candidate will manage commercial risk, lead on governance with IT and Security teams, and supervise junior lawyers within the in-house team.

Qualifications

• Law degree or equivalent required with good academic standards.
• Qualified Solicitor (or overseas equivalent) with at least 4 years post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience working with commercial technology contracts is essential.

Responsibilities

• Advising on Supplier terms, DD and onboarding processes, including strategic technology contracts.
• Contributing to AI Governance and working with Regulatory, IT and Information Security to onboard AI responsibly.
• Support business change with commercial and legal risk management across the function.
• Identify and implement process improvements with the Supplier Engagement lead.
• Advising on data protection queries under guidance of Privacy Governance & Compliance Manager.
• Supervise junior team members within the In-House group.
• Handle ad hoc risk queries and act as a trusted advisor on risk issues.
• Data protection, GDPR, Legal Tech, Internal audit, Training and induction as needed.
