Job summary

The Stephen James Partnership is seeking a Legal Counsel (Asset Management) to join its Corporate Legal Services team in Manchester. The role focuses on EU/UK regulation, governance and strategic initiatives within an in-house asset management environment.

With 5+ years' PQE, you will advise buy-side clients, implement regulatory change, and collaborate with Compliance, Risk and business units. Strong drafting and stakeholder-management skills are essential to support complex corporate projects

Qualifications

5+ years’ PQE, in-house at asset manager and/or private practice.
In-depth knowledge of MiFID, UCITS and AIFM.
Experience advising buy-side financial services.
Understanding UK regulator priorities and responding to consultations.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management and drafting skills.

Responsibilities

Provide regulatory advice on EU and UK regulation within governance framework.
Collaborate with Compliance, Public Policy, Risk, Change Management and business units on regulatory change.
Advise on complex business changes including regional organisation, regulatory authorisations and corporate infrastructure.
Partner with legal teams globally and represent the business on industry bodies.
