Job summary

Churchdown Village Infant School in Gloucestershire is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to support pupils to access learning and reach their potential. This fixed-term role is part of the Gloucestershire Learning Alliance, with a starting salary at Grade 5.

The post involves 30 hours per week, 38 weeks (term-time), and delivering targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions, alongside pastoral support and promoting positive behaviour.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with, or supporting, young children.
• Builds positive and trusting relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
• Understands the importance of inclusion and has high expectations for all children.
• Can provide patient, consistent support to pupils with a range of learning and social needs.
• Has strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Is able to use initiative while following guidance from teachers and school leaders.

Responsibilities

• Providing high-quality in-class support to enable pupils to access learning and make progress.
• Delivering targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to support identified pupils.
• Supporting the development of pupils’ social skills, confidence and independence.
• Providing pastoral and nurture support for vulnerable pupils and those requiring additional emotional support.
• Promoting positive behaviour and helping to reduce low-level disruption in the classroom.
• Supporting identified pupils during break and lunch periods to ensure they feel safe, included and successful.
