Job summary

Churchdown Village Infant School is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to join our friendly team for 30 hours per week across 38 weeks (term time only). This fixed-term role provides in-class support to help pupils access learning and reach their full potential, within Gloucestershire Learning Alliance.

You will deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions, support pupils' social and emotional development, and promote positive behaviour.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with young children and supporting learning.
• Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
• Commitment to inclusion and high expectations for all children.
• Patient and consistent support to pupils with diverse learning and social needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to use initiative under guidance from teachers and leaders.
• Shared belief that every pupil can achieve with the right support.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class support to enable pupils to access learning and make progress.
• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to support identified pupils.
• Support the development of pupils’ social skills, confidence and independence.
• Provide pastoral and nurture support for vulnerable pupils and those needing emotional support.
• Promote positive behaviour and help reduce low-level disruption in the classroom.
• Support identified pupils during break and lunch periods to ensure they feel safe and included.
