Job summary

Pioneer Selection Ltd is seeking an experienced Improvement Engineer for a major manufacturing site in the UK. Based in Telford, the role focuses on driving operational excellence in a highly automated production environment.

The successful candidate will lead improvements across electrical, controls and mechanical systems, supporting preventative maintenance and reliability initiatives. The position offers a days-based pattern with Friday early finish and opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

Shift: Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 5:00pm | Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm

Job Overview

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an Improvement Engineer to join a highly respected manufacturing business operating one of the most advanced production facilities in Europe. The successful Improvement Engineer will play a key role in driving operational excellence, improving equipment reliability and enhancing manufacturing performance across a highly automated production environment.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for identifying inefficiencies, implementing technical improvements and supporting reliability initiatives across electrical, controls and mechanical systems.

Qualifications

Non‑Negotiable Requirements:

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or automated production environment.
  • Continuous improvement background within an industrial setting.
  • Experience working with electrical controls, automation and mechanical systems.
  • Minimum Level 3 Engineering qualification.

Essential Requirements:

  • Electrical fault‑finding and controls experience.
  • Experience working with PLC systems such as Siemens or Allen Bradley.
  • Knowledge of HMI platforms including Keyence and Omron.
  • Strong mechanical understanding with experience improving equipment reliability.
  • Experience supporting preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience carrying out equipment modifications to improve efficiency, reliability and safety.
  • Exposure to panel building, wiring and industrial controls.
  • Knowledge of automated manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a methodical approach to engineering challenges.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
