Job summary

Stafforce Ports is partnering with a leading international logistics and freight forwarding business to recruit an Import Operations Co-ordinator for their Immingham office. You will coordinate end-to-end import movements from Europe into the UK and become a key contact on a major client contract.

The role requires experience in freight forwarding, customs procedures and managing multiple shipments, with strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain revenues/costs in the operating system; monitor profitability.
• Act as main contact for a major aluminium import contract and liaise with overseas agents.

Import Operations Co-ordinator

Immingham

Circa £35,000 (Negotiable DOE)

Full Time | Permanent

Stafforce are proud to be working in partnership with a leading international logistics and freight forwarding business to recruit an Import Operations Co-ordinator for their busy Immingham office.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and supportive team managing import freight movements from Scandinavia and Europe into the UK. The role offers a varied workload, significant responsibility, and the opportunity to become a key contact within a major client contract.

The Role

As an Import Operations Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating the end-to-end import process, ensuring shipments are managed efficiently, accurately, and in line with customs and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Processing shipping manifests and EDI files from colleagues across Norway, Holland and Denmark.
• Managing both LCL and FCL import shipments.
• Completing customs entries and associated documentation.
• Arranging UK-wide deliveries and collections through a network of approved hauliers.
• Preparing and issuing haulage instructions.
• Liaising with Port Health Authorities and managing IPAFFS requirements where necessary.
• Building strong relationships with overseas agents, suppliers and customers.
• Monitoring shipment profitability and checking profit and loss reports.
• Inputting revenues and costs accurately into the operating system.
• Providing rates and shipment charges to customers and partner offices.
• Acting as the main point of contact for a large aluminium import contract.
• Delivering excellent customer service through clear communication with clients, suppliers and colleagues.
• Supporting the wider operations team with general office and operational duties.

About You

• Previous experience within freight forwarding, shipping, customs clearance or import operations.
• Knowledge of customs procedures and import documentation.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
• The ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to monitor costs and profitability.
• Experience using freight forwarding or logistics operating systems.

Salary & Benefits

• Circa £35,000 salary (negotiable depending on experience)
• Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00
• 1 in 3 Saturdays with an additional £250 payment per Saturday worked
• Saturday hours typically 08:30 - 12:30, with on-call support thereafter (minimal calls after vessel departure)
• Opportunity to work Saturdays from home once fully trained and established in the role
• Group performance bonus of up to 50% of monthly salary, paid annually in December
