Job summary

University of Hull is seeking a Service User/Carer Adviser to provide lived-experience input across teaching, learning, assessment and curriculum design within the Faculty of Health Sciences. The role supports student recruitment, teaching delivery, and involvement in research, with opportunities to join development activities and programme governance.

The post focuses on co-producing education with service users and carers, aiming to enhance student understanding of health and social care needs

Qualifications

• Direct experience of caring for someone receiving health or social care or direct experience as a service user.
• Be willing and prepared to talk openly about your experience in front of an audience or provide a recording (e.g. video).
• Be approachable and enthusiastic.
• Be willing to undertake training.

Responsibilities

• Be part of a panel, co-teaching or similar duties.
• Involvement in Open Days and Taster Events; support recruitment/selection activities.
• Review interview questions and selection procedures to ensure relevance.
• Participate in interview panels and related activities.
• Share lived experience during sessions or support in workshops; help plan teaching, learning and assessment strategies.
• Contribute to research processes and provide service user perspectives on aims, questions, design and ethics.
• Support curriculum development, governance and enhancement, attend programme/board meetings when needed.
• Develop resources and assist in reviewing new material and digital resources.
