Job summary

TimePlan Education seeks an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEND in a small alternative provision setting in Gorton, Manchester. You will provide 1:1, small-group and classroom support to secondary pupils under the guidance of teachers and the pastoral team.

The role focuses on behaviour support, ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning in a structured environment. A Level 3 qualification is desirable; Team Teach Level 2 training is welcomed.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and challenging behaviour.
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach with confidence managing challenging situations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with secondary-aged students.
  • Consistency and a positive attitude focused on improving outcomes.
  • Team Teach Level 2 training is highly desirable.
  • Experience in alternative provision or specialist schools is advantageous.
  • A Level 3 qualification in education, childcare, psychology or related subject is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1, small-group and classroom support to secondary-aged pupils.
  • Support students with autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH and complex behavioural needs.
  • Build positive relationships, trust and engagement with pupils who may be reluctant to learn.
  • Support emotional regulation, independence and positive behaviour.
  • Use consistent de-escalation strategies and follow individual behaviour plans.
  • Adapt your approach to pupils' communication, sensory and learning needs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
