Job summary

Academics Ltd in Wokingham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs in a secondary setting. You will work closely with teachers to implement IEPs and behaviour strategies, ensuring inclusive participation and progress for every child.

The role requires empathy, patience, strong communication, and the ability to work well both in a team and independently. A relevant education/childcare qualification is advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN support are advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to students with SEN in the classroom, ensuring their engagement and participation in learning activities.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to assess student progress and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected.
  • Provide assistance with personal care and mobility for students with physical disabilities, as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.
