Job summary

Academics in Gloucester is seeking an SEN Alternative Provision Learning Mentor to support learners with additional needs within a dedicated provision setting. You will deliver 1-1 and group mentoring, contribute to personalised learning plans, and help create a calm, engaging environment where every learner can thrive.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young adults with additional needs.
• Strong behaviour management skills; restraint or positive handling training is advantageous.
• Patient, compassionate, and proactive approach.
• Interest in pursuing a career in special education, psychology, or therapy.
• Clear DBS (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-1 or group mentoring support to learners.
• Support implementation of tailored learning plans.
• Help create a safe and engaging environment where every learner can thrive.
• Collaborate with teachers, support workers and other professionals to deliver tailored learning support.
• Gain practical experience in a specialist SEN environment.
