Job summary

Humly are recruiting a strong SEN Learning Support Assistant to support a group of children with special educational needs at a primary school in Darwen. This full-time role starts on 2 November 2026, after the October half-term, and will run until Christmas initially, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with special educational needs is essential.
• Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or SEN Learning Support Assistant is desirable.
• Full-time availability in Darwen from 2 November to Christmas, with potential extension.

Responsibilities

• Support a group of children with SEN within a primary school.
• Help pupils access classroom learning and participate in daily activities.
• Provide consistent, patient and structured support tailored to individual needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and independence.
• Help children develop confidence and build positive relationships.
• Support pupils with classroom routines and transitions throughout the day.
• Adapt approach to suit different learning styles and abilities.
• Work closely with the class teacher and support staff to follow strategies.
• Help maintain a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment.
• Encourage pupils to take part in learning and social activities.
• Provide reassurance and structure to help pupils feel settled.
