ALS Laboratories (UK) Ltd in Carlisle is seeking a Microbiology Laboratory Technician to support the day-to-day operations of a busy microbiology team, ensuring samples are processed accurately and on time while upholding quality and safety standards.

The role requires an A Level science qualification or hands-on lab experience, good IT skills with LIMS, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• A Level (or equivalent) in a science subject, or relevant hands‑on laboratory experience.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and safety.
• Confident IT skills, including experience with LIMS for data entry and recording.

Responsibilities

• Carry out allocated testing precisely in line with documented methods and procedures, maintaining consistently high quality standards.
• Complete daily QC checks and equipment calibrations to keep the laboratory running at its best.
• Deliver testing within required turnaround times, ensuring results meet method specifications and customer expectations.
• Escalate issues or uncertainties that may impact testing to the Shift Supervisor promptly and without hesitation.
