Job summary

ALS in Trowbridge is seeking a conscientious Microbiologist to join our laboratory team. You will perform microbiological testing, maintain accurate records and support training while upholding safety and ISO standards.

The role offers a full-time permanent contract with a starting annual salary of £28,267, and requires strong attention to detail and collaboration with colleagues to meet deadlines and quality targets.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 GCSEs including Science, English and Mathematics.
• Sound theoretical and practical knowledge of microbiology.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Committed to producing high-quality data in compliance with ISO standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out microbiological testing including plate counting, identification and confirmation.
• Enter and approve test results accurately and promptly.
• Maintain a clean, organised laboratory environment and proper waste disposal.
• Monitor stock levels and request replenishment as needed.
• Deliver training on microbiological procedures and theoretical principles.
